Football’s commitment to social development
Football for hope is a beautiful union of people wanting to make a difference, not just for themselves but for others, people like the media team from Hillside Digital who are working on various projects including the Siyakhona project, helping to empower the poor and offering them a voice to be heard.
It is the final week of the 2010 Fifa World Cup and South Africa is abuzz with excitement but, at the same time there are 32 teams from around the world that have all desended on Alexandra township in Johannesburg for a different kind of celebration of football.
From the 4th of July to the 10 of July 2010, 32 teams come together to celebrate social responsibility, change and integrity through this beautiful game of football. There are no referees, no linesmen - any disagreements are resolved through dialogue. These teams come together not through trials and goals on the field but, trials and goals in life, their contribution and social responsibility.
